Vacuum Forming

Here at DMS Plastics, we are experts in the field of vacuum forming. We use state-of-the-art machinery to vacuum form a wide range of components using various thermoplastic materials (in thin or heavy gauge) such as ABS, HIPS, Acrylic, PVC and Polycarbonate. We have the facilities to machine materials between 0.5mm and 8.0mm thickness using modern CNC controlled technology. All processes are carried out to incredibly high standards and products are delivered within agreed timeframes. Injection Moulding

We also have the facilities and capabilities to injection mould components to customer specifications, and can make tools from CAD data.

Injection moulding is often used for high production volumes and is a relatively fast method of production. Our highly skilled and experienced team works closely with customers to achieve the very best end results. All services are carried out quickly and efficiently and offered at competitive rates.

Drape Moulding

The drape moulding process is used when optical clarity is of utmost importance, or for projects that involve components with large curves. Extruded acrylic is widely used for drape moulding projects and the process is good for maintaining sheet wall thickness throughout the profile of the part.

Drape moulding involves low tooling costs, superior control of the surface finish and minimal sheet stress. This process is widely used for low production volumes.

Tooling and CNC Machining

We are pleased to manufacture tooling in-house using wood, resin or aluminium materials. We work closely with customers to design and create excellent products. We can design tooling from scratch and can also accept designs supplied by our customers.

We use a range of state-of-the-art equipment to achieve top quality solutions. The majority of our components are trimmed using five axis CNC routers, however, we can also offer conventional saw and guillotine methods.

Painting and Lacquering

We are also pleased to have the facilities to paint and lacquer products in-house. Using these facilities we can achieve a range of finishes such as the chrome effect which can be applied to clear plastics to enable backlighting and other specified effects.

Pressure and Twin Sheet Moulding

Pressure Forming: this is available as a cost-effective alternative to injection moulding and provides a range of benefits such as multiple surface textures, higher definition compared to vacuum forming and lower tooling costs. Pressure forming is ideally suited to low/medium production volumes.

Twin Sheet Moulding: this is used to form a part consisting of two layers, with airspace between. This process is typically used for creating pallets, buoyancy aids and various medical applications.

Project Management

At DMS Plastics, we excel at Research and Design project and resource management.  Our highly skilled and experienced engineers and project management staff work closely with our clients, liaising to ensure the best possible designs result in the best possible products.  Projects are managed all the way through from inception to completion.  Frequently during the consultation and prototyping processes, further design improvements are identified and implemented, meaning that our clients end up with a completed project that best suits their needs.

Chrome Plating

We are proud of our chrome plating service and are very pleased to now be able to offer a paint that will enable a chrome effect to be applied to any surface.  You can even choose eye-catching back illumination for your part, achieved by applying  the finish to a clear moulding.  The use of our chrome effect paint is particularly effective in signage.  This new product has already been successfully used on a large automotive signage contract.  You can be assured of a striking and appealing finish with our new chrome effect paint.
